Classes are conducted in Spanish and welcome both fluent speakers and language learners. They will be filled with songs, movement, rhythm games, storytelling, and hands-on exploration of simple musical instruments. Little Piano Explorers is an engaging hands-on introduction to piano designed for children ages 4-7. The class is very small (max 5) and designed for absolute beginners to learn keyboard fundamentals, build confidence, and start playing simple songs quickly. The class balances practical technique, music reading basics, and fun repertoire.

An engaging hands-on introduction to piano designed for children ages 8-12. The class is very small (max 5) and designed for absolute beginners to learn keyboard fundamentals, build confidence, and start playing simple songs quickly.

Full‑sized violins are available for caregivers who wish to join in the learning (participation is encouraged but never required). Children will need their own child‑sized violin for home practice so they can continue building skills between classes.

Private lessons are highly recommended and offered at a discounted rate when you enroll in this class. We do have a very limited number of violins for sale, if you need help finding one.

Introduce your toddler to the magic of Mandarin with Ms. Miranda, a licensed dual language teacher from P.S. 169 Sunset Park Elementary with an MA in Early Childhood and Special Education from NYU. She will help caregivers and their little ones discover the joys of reading through interactive stories, vibrant picture books, and playful engagement. Children will naturally learn Chinese through play, no experience needed!

We'll read a story together in each session and then the kids will engage in open-ended hands-on play, exploring and interacting in their own way as there's no one "right" way to play! Every child can engage at their own level. Participants will focus on building natural linguistic foundations, cultural curiosity, and creating bonding experiences with the goal of sparking a lifelong love of learning Mandarin.

Toddler Junior Jam classes are fun-filled, structured music classes that emphasize discovering the singing voice and developing an internal sense of beat. The class is very small (max 6 students) and designed for absolute beginners to learn music fundamentals, build confidence, and start playing simple songs quickly. The class balances practical technique, music reading basics, and fun repertoire. This class is optionally a drop-off but parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

An engaging hands-on introduction to piano designed for children ages 8-12. The class is very small (max 5) and designed for absolute beginners to learn keyboard fundamentals, build confidence, and start playing simple songs quickly.

This class balances practical technique, music reading basics, and fun repertoire. The class is optionally a drop-off but parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

A hands-on course designed for beginners, approximately ages 8-12, to learn guitar, piano and drum fundamentals, build confidence, and start playing songs quickly. Taught by Mr. Drew, M.M. in Music Performance from New England Conservatory.

Repertoire for classes includes a wide range of styles such as jazz, classical, R&B, rock, blues, folk, and experimental music. The class balances practical technique, music reading basics, and fun.

Young children and toddlers can explore the orchestra instrument families (strings, woodwinds, brass, keyboard & percussion) with live demonstrations each week from various Cortelyou Music & Play faculty members and guests. Kids will enjoy a variety of styles of music in digestible bite sized portions and get to play with musical toys. They will also touch and in some cases play the real instruments.

This class is mainly geared toward children 2-5 that will soon be able to start private lessons however it is open to older children and younger toddlers as well.

Caregiver & Me Violin Group is a unique musical experience where children ages 3–6 learn violin together with their parent or caregiver. In this special Suzuki‑inspired group setting, adults are invited to participate, learn, and model musical curiosity—creating a shared journey that strengthens skills and deepens connection.

Full‑sized violins are available for caregivers who wish to join in the learning (participation is encouraged but never required). Children will need their own child‑sized violin for home practice so they can continue building skills between classes.

Private lessons are highly recommended and offered at a discounted rate when you enroll in this class. We do have a very limited number of violins for sale, if you need help finding one.
